Robert N. Bee
(1925-2017)

Robert N. Bee, banking executive and founding member of the Georgetown Club of the United Kingdom, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London, England, on May 1, 1993.

A multinational executive in banking since he received a graduate degree from Georgetown in the 1950's, Bee served as managing director and chief executive officer of the London Interstate Bank at the time of the award, later retiring in 1999. He is a former president of Bankers Association for Foreign Trade, based in Washington.

While in London, he was a co-founder of the Georgetown Club of the United Kingdom, which won the bid to host the first John Carroll Awards outside the United States and its territories in 1993.

Robert Bee died in 2017 at the age of 92.

James P. Clark

James P. ("Jim") Clark, a Los Angeles-based attorney and leading figure in the University's Alumni Admissions Program, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London, England, on May 1, 1993.

Clark is a 1970 graduate of the College, where he served as the first president of the unified Georgetown Student Government following the collapse of the Yard (College Student Council) in 1969. Following his law degree from NYU in 1973, he served for 38 years as a civil litigator at the Los Angeles firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. he served on the Executive Committee of the Antitrust Section of the State Bar of California, served as Deputy General Counsel of the Webster Commission on the 1992 Los Angeles Riots, and was named the area's pro bono attorney of the year in 1990.

A former vice chairman of the Georgetown University Board of Regents, Clark has devoted more than 40 years to the University's Alumni Admissions program as an interviewer, regional chair, and former chairman of its board of advisors., and helped lead the way for the tremendous growth in candidates and students from California to attend Georgetown, which is now the largest state by representation within the undergraduate population.

Since 2013, Clark has served as the deputy city attorney for the City of Los Angeles.

John A. Gaberino

John Gaberino, a Tulsa-based attorney and former president of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London, England, on May 1, 1993.

Raised in Holdenville, OK, Gaberino was named to Phi Beta Kappa as an economics major, graduating from the College with honors in 1963. After receiving his law degree from Georgetown in 1966, he returned to Tulsa, where he has served on boards including the William K. Warren Foundation, and foundations for Cascia Hall Charities, Tulsa Community College, and the John Hope Franklin Center.

Gaberino was a former senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of ONEOK Inc, a $13 billion energy service provider. Since 2004, he is a partner at the Tulsa law form of Gable & Gotwals.

Gaberino has a long record of distinction in his volunteer work for Georgetown, including the Oklahoma regional chairman for the Alumni Admissions program, class representative, and a member of the planning committee for the 1978 John Carroll Awards which were held in Tulsa. He is a former chairman of the Law Alumni Board, the University's Board of Regents and its Board of Directors. From 1991 to 2002 he served on the Board of Governors of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, serving as its president from 2000 to 2002.

Douglas E. MacDonald
(1919-2011)

Douglas MacDonald, a Connecticut real estate broker, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London, England, on May 1, 1993.

Biographical information on Mr. MacDonald is limited. Raised in Greenwich, CT and a graduate of the Canterbury School, MacDonald graduated from Georgetown in 1941 and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. MacDonald was a commercial real estate broker in Connecticut for many years.

The 1993 awards program also lists that he was a former president of the Georgetown Club of New York, and a member of the Board of Governors of the Georgetown University Alumni Association from 1963 to 1966.

MacDonald retired to Jacksonville, FL and died in 2011 at the age of 92.

William G. Reynolds

William G. ("Bill") Reynolds, a former president of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, and Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations & the Annual Fund, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Grosvenor Hotel, London, England, on May 1, 1993.

A 1979 graduate of the College, Reynolds earned his MBA at Cornell before becoming a marketing executive with Unilever, spending 17 years in the firm's product management group, including terms as vice president of its Elizabeth Arden, and Chesebrough Ponds product lines.

While stationed with Unilever in London, he was a founding member of the Georgetown Club of the United Kingdom and served as one of its first presidents. A recipient of the Award at the age of 36 (the second youngest recipient ever), Reynolds already carried a lengthy list of achievements in service to alma mater. The 1993 award program noted them as follows: Board of Governors, Board of Regents, National Chairman, Annual Fund, Chairman, Alumni Class Program, Class Chairman, and Alumni Admissions Program interviewer.

Returning to Unliever's New York office in the early 1990's, Reynolds continued his volunteer work for Georgetown, serving a second term as Annual Fund chair through 1996, then serving as president-elect of the Alumni Association from 1996 to 1998, and president from 1998-2000. In 2001, he was selected to become the Executive Director of the Association, serving through 2019.

His term as executive director was the second longest in the history of the Association, as his efforts led a golden age of the Association's growth and stability, introducing best-in-class programming such as Alumni Career Services, the Loyalty Society, the City Challenge, and Hoya Gateway to over 180,000 constituents worldwide. He has also been a leader within the University in promoting the expanded academic and cultural programming which further elevated the John Carroll Awards in the intervening years, with events in 16 cities and five different countries in his tenure of Alumni Association leadership.
