Anne Danaher Connelly

Anne Danaher Connelly, a non-profit executive, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Missouri Athletic Club, St. Louis, MO on April 8, 1995.

The co-founder of target Funding Group, a non-profit fundraising group, Connelly was honored in 1995 for her service on the Board of Governors of the Alumni Association from 1985 to 1991, as well as for her work as past president of the Georgetown Club of Boston and the steering committee for the 1994 John Carroll Awards in Boston.

Anne and Michael Connelly (B'74) endowed a scholarship at Georgetown in honor of Anne's father, the late Robert C. Danaher (C'46, L'48).

John E. Cramer, III

John E. Cramer, a St. Louis-based business executive, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Missouri Athletic Club, St. Louis, MO on April 8, 1995.

In high school, Cramer worked at the Casper Stolle Quarry and took a full time position there after his business degree from Georgetown and military service in the U.S. Navy. Elected president in 1978, he led the effort to modernize its facilities, which produce aggregate and crushed stone. Cramer has served as a past president of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, and later served as chairman of the company.

A longtime chairman of the Georgetown Club of St. Louis and the St. Louis committee for the Alumni Admissions Program, Cramer served on the on the Board of Governors of the Alumni Association from 1990 to 1996 and served on the steering committees for the John Carroll Awards in St. Louis in both 1974 and 1996.

JohN Cramer died in 2018 at the age of 76.

Jane S. Kirschner

Jane Staudt Kirschner, a former business executive, journalist, and author, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Missouri Athletic Club, St. Louis, MO on April 8, 1995.

Raised in Wilmington, DE, where her father was an executive with DuPont, Kirschner traveled extensively as a young woman, and already was skilled in four languages when she enrolled at the School of Languages and Linguistics in 1963. Following graduation she worked for the Agency for International Development before settling in Sarasota, FL, where she was the president of Blue Heron, a food shipping company and College Classics, a merchandising company.

Jane is an active member of numerous philanthropic organizations in the community. She also has the distinction of two former mayors of Sarasota in her immediate family, as she was both the wife of mayor Kerry Kirschner (I'68), who served two terms in 1986-87 and 1990-91 and the mother of mayor Kelly Kirschner (C'97, G '98), who served in 2010-11.

Following the sale of the company, she turned to writing; first, for the Sarasota Herald Tribune, and later as the author of a children's book, "Annabelle from Sanibel" (2009). A former Sarasota regional club president and member of the Board of Governors of the Alumni Association from 1990 to 1999, she organized a Sarasota event for guests attending the John Carroll weekend in Miami in 1991.

John J. Salmon

John J. Salmon, a Washington-based attorney, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Missouri Athletic Club, St. Louis, MO on April 8, 1995.

A 1970 graduate of the College, Salmon received his law degree from George Washington in 1974 and a graduate law degree from Georgetown in 1981. A senior attorney of counsel at the Washington firm of Picard, Kentz, and Rowe, his biography states that "From 1981 through January 1985, Mr. Salmon was Chief Counsel of the Committee on Ways and Means, U.S. House of Representatives. As Chief Counsel, he headed the majority staff of the House Committee which has jurisdiction over all legislation relating to federal taxation, international trade and tariffs, and the broad range of programs authorized under the Social Security Act. During his tenure as Chief Counsel, the Committee processed major tax legislation in 1981, 1982 and 1984, the landmark Social Security Amendments of 1983, and the Trade and Tariff Act of 1984. From 1975 to 1978 he served as Counsel to the Committee's Subcommittee on Health, which has jurisdiction over the Medicare program."

A past president of the Georgetown Club of Metropolitan Washington, Salmon served as chairman of the Regional Club Council from 1992 to 1994.

Paul C. Saunders

Paul Saunders, former chairman of the Georgetown Law Center Board of Visitors, received the John Carroll Award in ceremonies held at the Missouri Athletic Club, St. Louis, MO on April 8, 1995.

Born and raised in New York, Saunders received Phi Beta Kappa honors upon his graduation from Fordham University in 1963, and helped pay his way though Georgetown Law School as a dormitory prefect on the main campus. Following graduate study at the Institut d' Etudes Politiques, he served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1971 and was an attorney in New York from 1971 to his retirement in 2014.

A retired partner of the firm of Cravath, Swaine and Moore, the firm's web site states that "[Mr. Saunders] is a member and former chair of the Board of Visitors of the Georgetown University Law Center, where he is also currently on the faculty and was appointed as Distinguished Visitor from Practice in 2003. Mr. Saunders is also a member of the Board of Directors and former President of the International Rule of Law Project, Inc. He serves as one of seven Observateurs of International Economic Regulations for the Foundation pour le Droit Continental and also serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of Commonweal Magazine."
