Eileen Brennan Ferrell

Eileen Brennan Ferrell, senior vice president and chief nursing officer at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital from 2012 through 2023, will receive the John Carroll Award at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA on April 5, 2025.
The awards release on Ms. Ferrell noted the following: "Eileen...was the senior vice president and Chief Nursing Officer for MedStar Georgetown University Hospital until her recent retirement. In this role, she provided strategic direction and leadership for operational departments that include clinical nursing, respiratory therapy, perioperative oversight, and pastoral care.
"Ferrell has been an active Georgetown volunteer, serving on the School of Nursing Board of Advisors and currently as the co-chair of this board. One of her favorite activities was chair of the School of Nursing 100th Anniversary Gala in 2003, when graduates and their friends celebrated the long, rich history of nursing in this country and at Georgetown. Ferrell comes from a close-knit Boston family where Jesuit traditions have always had a major impact. Her two children and six grandchildren as well as her extended family are the great loves of her life."
Lynn C. Fritz

Lynn Fritz, a retired business executive and proprietor of the Lynmar Estate, will receive the John Carroll Award at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA on April 5, 2025.
The awards release on Mr. Fritz noted the following: "Lynn Clinton Fritz graduated from Georgetown with a degree in history in 1964, later earning his J.D. from Lincoln University School of Law. He began his business career at Fritz, a small customs brokerage in San Francisco, eventually becoming chairman and CEO. Over three decades, he grew the company to 11,000 employees across 80 countries before selling it to UPS.
"Fritz and his wife, Dr. Anisya Fritz, founded the nonprofit Fritz Institute to apply his logistics expertise to the humanitarian sector. For over 20 years, the institute pioneered the concept of Humanitarian Logistics, now taught in universities globally. It collaborates with organizations like the Red Cross and U.N. to enhance humanitarian supply chains through technology, training, and best practices. The Lynn C. Fritz Award for Excellence in Humanitarian Logistics is the field's most prestigious honor.
"He has served two terms on the Georgetown Board of Directors, where two of his daughters also studied. Fritz has received Honorary Doctorates from Pepperdine and Drexel universities, the Citizen Diplomat award from the International Diplomacy Council, and the California Prize for Service of the Common Good. Fritz and his wife currently own Lynmar Estate, a luxury Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producer in Sonoma, California, home to the annual Georgetown Wine Country event."
Richard M. Hluchan

Richard Hluchan, a retired attorney and former president of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, will receive the John Carroll Award at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA on April 5, 2025.
The awards release on Mr. Hluchan noted the following: "Hluchan practiced environmental and land use law in New Jersey for 45 years. He is proud of his service as chief counsel to the New Jersey Pinelands Commission. He was instrumental in implementing and defending the Pinelands Comprehensive Management Plan, which has preserved over one million acres and become a national model for land use regulation. Hluchan served on the editorial board of the New Jersey Law Journal, as president of the Delaware Valley Environmental American Inn of Court, and as a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. NJ Superlawyers named him one of the top 100 attorneys in New Jersey.
As a student, Hluchan served on the editorial board of The HOYA and worked at WGTB-FM. He remains connected to Georgetown as a longtime leader of the Club of Southern NJ and Class of 1971 Co-Chair. He has served on the Alumni Board of Governors since 2003. From 2018 to 2020 he served as president of GUAA and sat on the Board of Directors.Hluchan met his wife, Deborah Miner Hluchan (SFS‘71), on the Hilltop. They have been married for 52 years and have two daughters, Sarah (MPP'09) and Christine (C'08, M'17). He and his family are avid Hoyas basketball fans and have traveled to China, Italy, Maui, and beyond to support the team.
Laurie Hodges Lapeyre

Laurie Hodges Lapeyre, an executive business consultant, will receive the John Carroll Award at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA on April 5, 2025.
The awards release on Ms. Lepeyre noted the following: "Since 2000, Laurie Hodges Lapeyre has been an active volunteer for educational, healthcare, and social service organizations in New York City and Washington, DC. She presently serves on the Board of Advisors of the McDonough School of Business. She is the former Chair of the Georgetown Board of Regents and now a Regent Emeritus. She served on the Georgetown Board of Directors for six years and also continues her family's deep engagement with the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center.
"Lapeyre is presently vice chair of the Board of Trustees of Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, a worldwide leader in musculoskeletal orthopedic care. She is the former vice chair of Catholic Big Sisters & Big Brothers (now Bigs & Littles NYC), a mentoring agency for low-income NYC families and now serves on their Leadership Council. She served on the Advisory Board of Horizons at Saint David's, an independent enrichment program designed to prevent academic slide by providing a rich academic and cultural summer experience for boys from low income, diverse NYC families. She was also board chair of Convent of the Sacred Heart, an independent Pre-K to Grade 12 girls' school in Manhattan.
"Lapeyre is married to Pierre Lapeyre, Jr. Their two children, Pierre Lapeyre, III (B'15) and Jacqueline Lapeyre (B'17), are proud Hoyas, as well as their son-in-law, Ian Caplan (C'17).
Paul R. O'Neill

Paul O'Neill, former chief operating officer for the Office of Advancement at Georgetown University, will receive the John Carroll Award at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA on April 5, 2025.
The awards release on Mr. O'Neill noted the following: "Paul O'Neill, a Philadelphia native, majored in government at Georgetown. As a student, he served as a White House intern before starting a full-time career in the White House Presidential Advance Office under President Ronald Reagan.
"After earning a Master's in Public Policy at Georgetown, O'Neill transitioned to the private sector, working at The Advisory Board Company and later as a managing director of the Corporate Executive Board (CEB). He was part of the leadership team that took CEB through an IPO and years of extraordinary growth. After his tenure at CEB, he became a managing director on the publishing team of The Atlantic magazine.
"In 2009, O'Neill returned to Georgetown as senior advisor to the president, where he played a pivotal role in securing the university's then-largest-ever philanthropic gift to establish the McCourt School of Public Policy in 2013. As COO of the Office of Advancement, O'Neill led operations of the "For Generations to Come" campaign, which raised $1.7 billion.
"O'Neill is co-author of two editions of "Georgetown University" (Arcadia Press), a collection of historical documents and photographs from the university's first 200 years. He chairs the Advisory Board of the Carroll Forum, interviews for the Alumni Admissions Program, and was a GSP mentor. He also serves on the external advisory committee of the Georgetown University Alumni and Student Federal Credit Union. In 2021, O'Neill was appointed to the US-UK Fulbright Commission, where he chairs the fundraising committee."
Eric L. Woods

Eric Woods, chief operating officer for the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, will receive the John Carroll Award at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA on April 5, 2025.
The awards release on Mr. Woods noted the following: "Eric Woods is COO at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston. He is responsible for all operational aspects of the MFA including business development, government and legal affairs, visitor and security functions, retail and food services, human resources, information technology, and facilities management. Prior to joining the MFA, Woods served as the associate dean for administration and finance at Northeastern University's Khoury College of Computer Science, overseeing all financial, operational, and grant administration aspects for a college.
"Previously, Woods founded Paladin Ventures, LLC, a consulting firm dedicated to identifying and assisting entrepreneurs and emerging businesses in need of strategic planning, business development, operational expertise, marketing & brand management, and investment capital across a variety of disciplines. During that time he helped steward NuAmerica Agency, a multicultural marketing and advertising firm, to five-fold growth in the business. He also served as COO of UPTOWN Magazine, the first upscale lifestyle magazine directed towards African Americans, co-founded Harlem Vintage and Nectar Wine Bar, Harlem's first upscale retail wine shop and wind bar, and co-founded Bitty Foods, America's first protein enriched baked goods company powered by insect protein.
"After graduating from Columbia University's Graduate School of Business, Woods began his career in financial services, first at JP Morgan and then at Goldman Sachs. He serves on Georgetown University's Board of Regents, is a co-founder and chair of the Georgetown University Black Alumni Council, is a founding board member of Georgetown Angel Investment Network, and sits on the Advisory Board of Winchester Hospital."
